Three Great Prix Fixe Menus in Vegas Under $100

Ever since my night at Alinea in Chicago, I’m more apt to consider prix fixe or tasting menus. At their best, it’s a chance for the chef to showcase their best dishes. Alinea is high class and high price and Vegas has its share of similarly expensive restaurants. But there are many tasting menus, most on the Strip, that come at a more modest cost. Here are three worth considering:

Prices don’t include tax, gratuity, or any other fun Vegas fees

STRIPSTEAK, Mandalay Bay – $75

I enjoy STRIPSTEAK. The cuts are great and the service top-notch. Their prix fixe menu is three courses and includes the broccolini side with the entrée. For value, I’d go with the prawns and flat iron steak. You may want to add their spicy fried rice side as well.

Jaleo, Cosmopolitan – $40 and $65

A tasting menu at a tapas restaurant isn’t just a showcase, it’s a time saver. Let Jose show you the way. Two menus here at Jaleo. $40 for six plates from a great chef is quite a value. If you’re a Vegas local, add to it with a free glass of sangria.

Mott 32, Palazzo – $58

In addition to their stunning decor, Mott 32 offers a wide range of Chinese food. Their four-course tasting menu has a good mix. My choices would be the prawn toast, shrimp wonton soup, and the king prawns. The cocktails here are sleepers. Pricey, but creative.

Lots of prawns for me on this list. By my count, there are about 20 prix fixe or tasting menus on the Strip and downtown with a nice range of prices and options. In the most recent TFB Vegas Newsletter, I ran down some additional menus that intrigued me. Subscribers also got access to the full list. If these restaurants can upsell, I’m allowed to too.
