How I Got Hyatt Globalist Without Leaving the House

If you didn’t know, Hyatt cut its elite qualifying requirments in half for 2021. To earn Globalist, you needed to rack up 30 qualifying nights. If you have the Hyatt Credit card, you don’t need to actually stay at a Hyatt hotel to earn those qualifying nights. For every $5000 in spend on the card, you’re awarded two qualifying nights.

I don’t manufacture spend and my travel for 2021 was looking spotty at best. So my strategy was simple: have an expensive baby and my own medical episode and put all the accompanying bills on my Hyatt card. Voila:

I in no way used the best card for these bills. But this game isn’t always about making the perfect play. I do have travel planned for 2022. I already have enought points to get me there. And financially I’m doing ok despite the hospital stays. This was all about having some fun. That’s what this whole hobby is about. Most importantly, I get to look down on everyone with lesser Hyatt status. I’m a Globalist. That’s something no one can take away from me. Except Hyatt when they take it away from me in February of 2023.
